Here at Math Lab with Mrs. P, I offer virtual, one-on-one tutoring for math fundamentals, pre-algebra and algebra 1 for elementary, middle and high school students.

Personalized learning at its best.

Flexible Scheduling

I get online as early as 1pm and as late as 8pm every weekday (pacific time). This is to make time for long commutes, after school activities, makeup tests, sports—the responsibilities that need to be taken care of first!

Different Approaches

With math instruction, there are certain methods that work every time. However, I will always prioritize what gets the best results and provides the learner with the best experience!

Optimal Formats

There are two different types of sessions available for booking. With different lengths of time come different plans of action and different goals. Consistency is key, but let’s keep things interesting!

FAQs

  • Along with direct instruction, collaboration and integrating technology, here is what I prioritize with students who struggle with math:

    • Going back to the basics. That means building towards mastery in math facts, integers and basic arithmetic so everything else is easier!

    • Helping the student to become the instructor. When students can listen to a lesson, apply it to their work and then explain what they did in their own words (without my help), that indicates a deeper level of understanding.

    • Having fun! Most kids already don't like math, so if I can help them manage their stress (or even contempt), I will do that.

  • Math fundamentals, Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 contain the foundational skills needed for every other math course. It is my passion and priority to help students build confidence and proficiency in these classes first. However, I do hope to eventually expand my operations so I can provide support with geometry, algebra 2, pre-calculus and calculus!

  • Depending on the length of the session, I can elaborate on harder, more complex concepts. We can prepare for an upcoming test or exam. Students can work on homework, or if there's no work to be done, we can spend 30 minutes on some fun review.

  • The first session is a free consultation and trial (30 minutes total).

For the first 10 minutes, I will follow up with parents about the online intake form and answer any initial questions. The remaining 20 minutes will be solely for working with the student. We'll explore how we can best work together, talk through any challenges and try some practice or homework problems.

At the end of the session, we'll chat briefly to discuss if we're a good fit and book the next session if you're interested!

Book your free consultation now or email me at mathlabwithmrsp@gmail.com.

  • It really depends on what the student needs and how much time they have. I try to accommodate all different types of schedules.

If a student books 30 minutes for their first session, the next session can be an hour and vice versa. It does not have to be the same type of session each time.

I also offer a package that contains 4 one-hour sessions. They can be reserved for different days and times, but they must be booked all at once.

  • Whenever you want!

The latest a session can be booked is 24 hours in advance. I am unable to honor same-day bookings at this time.

  • You can email me at mathlabwithmrsp@gmail.com or use my booking site!

  • To make the most of our time together, it is best practice for students to come prepared with all materials they'd like to review or work on.

Additionally, please make sure all necessary devices are charged sufficiently for the length of a full session.

  • I totally understand! Life happens. If you are able to cancel or reschedule your appointment at least 12 hours before the original appointment, that would be stellar. No charge!

    • There is no fee at any time for rescheduling your original appointment.

    • Cancellations made less than 12 hours in advance or less will incur a $15 fee.

    • No-shows will incur a 50% fee of the price of the booked session.

    I appreciate your understanding!

There are multiple ways you can cancel and/or reschedule your appointment:

    1. if cancelling more than 12 hours in advance, you can use your confirmation email

    2. if cancelling less than 12 hours in advance, please email me directly at mathlabwithmrsp@gmail.com
